Right niw I’m taking some sort of anti depressant & anti anxiety medication. I forgot what it’s called. I don’t feel any differently when I don’t take it.

Does anyone else have this happen?

I have been in that situation so I can definitely identify with you.

Sometimes a med needs a certain time period before it starts showing noticeable symptom relief although it is working at some level to provide healing.

Sometimes a med is not at a sufficient therapeutic dosage to be effective or fully effective.

Sometimes after a sufficient trial period a med not working needs to be augmented with another medication or a medication switch needs to take place.

And sometimes psychotherapy is needed to reduce stressors that prevent a med from working properly.

You probably already know all this. Sorry.

I don't know what your situation is so I am in the dark there. But I am so very, very sorry you are not getting good symptom improvement. That can be so demoralizing and draining. Wish I knew what to say to help you!

Thanks. Medication can only do so much unfortunately. Other factors contribute to my anxiety & depression. I’m a sensitive person & things like personal issues get to me all the time, ugh.

Well said, @Yaowen

Have you spoken to your doc about it, @jesyka ?

Sometimes I get incredibly anxious that my meds aren’t working. This usually happens whenever I feel the beginnings of a strong fluctuation in my mood or when my sleep is knocked off as that’s usually the first thing I notice when becoming unwell. But I have remained well for over a year now so something is working. My anxiety is still there though

I hope you are doing as well as possible!

jesyka,

I, too, am sorry to hear that you feel this way. I agree with you that there are other factors that can contribute to one's mental state.

Like Pinny mentioned, have you spoken to your doctor about the matter?

I hope you feel better.

Yes, I have. My psychiatrist keeps upping the dame mefs instead of trying anything new. It’s fru! Only a few times I was given something new. Nothing works. Thankfully I don’t think I need medication all the time now. I need it for certain situations though.

Sorry to hear about your issues with meds

@jesyka can you look at the bottles to see which medications you are taking? This can help determine what the expected benefit from them is and then convince your prescriber to try something different. You also said that nothing works. Do you recall the names of medications that did not work for you? It would be helpful to have a list of everything that you have tried and that did not work.
