I currently take 50 mg and it works. I have 25 mg tablets at home and wonder if I should try them over the weekend to see if it might do the job at a lower dosage, but I first want to poll people to see where they are in terms of their Seroquel dosage. Thanks!

I used to take 100 mg of Seroquel for sleep.

Started at 50 mg and the doc increased the dose as over time the 50 mg didn't work as well.

Per pdoc's instructions, I would take 25mg at night, wake up 3 hours later from weird dreams, then take another 25mg, then wake up another 3 hours from weird dreams (side effect I got from the med).

I take 50 mg for sleep (I don't take it every night as I have benzos... until they run out)

I was only prescribed 12.5 mg. I hated it. It was like my body was asleep but my mind kept racing. My sleep problems had been due to that feeling of not being able to shut my mind off. Waking up, I was tired most of the day. Maybe a higher dose would have helped me sleep better, but I would probably have felt more tired.

Why? It would seem that a low dose of Seroquel is less problematic than continuous use of benzos. Seroquel for sleep is prescribed in general population, to ppl without psych dx's.

Seems like my husband took 25-50mg. My understanding of seroquel is that it has a paradoxical effect, causing sleepiness at lower doses.

Yes, and for this reason it is used off label for sleep in non-psychiatric patients.

I am now doing OK on 50 mg and am reluctant to rock the boat, but maybe in the future I will try going to to 25 mg, slowly.

I also take 50mg for sleep, though I usually need to add 50mg of Trazadone to get the job done.
