None of the SSRI meds are helping me much. Klonopin and Gabapentin help somewhat.

It might be time to talk to your prescriber. If meds are not working as intended it may be time to adjust or replace them. Hope you get some response from your prescriber. Everyone responds differently to meds, so even if you get a tip from someone at MSF, that med may not be appropriate for you. @CANDC __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |

My Lamictal/Abilify combo helps as long as I'm also working extremely hard taking care of myself (maintaining good sleep, going to therapy, journaling/tracking symptoms, showering every day, eating healthily, getting in at least 30 min. of enjoyable physical activity every day, going outside, keeping my environment clean, staying away from substances, doing something grounding a few times a day, keeping in touch with supportive folks, etc.) For me it's half meds half lifestyle.
Not that I'm currently doing all of that. And guess what? I'm kinda depressed with sprinkles of psychotic symptoms. edit: just wanted to respond to Nammu and add (instead of making another post), that DBT is pretty awesome at helping people function better, which over time makes them feel better. I was in DBT and it was starting to help, but I got kicked out for missing too many sessions in a row (I was inpatient/residential). I'm trying to get back in it. __________________ [Insert thought-provoking and comedic quote here] Last edited by MuddyBoots; Oct 29, 2023 at 01:25 PM.. |

Be careful of the klonopin it starts a vicious cycle that apes helping but digs a hole that’s hard to get out of. I’ve heard very good things about DBT programs that help people who don’t get help from drugs alone.

I also found DBT to be incredible helpful, it was one of the more helpful therapies I've tried. I also really like CBT thought records. it took me some time of practising them but now it's pretty automatic for me to do them in my head.
As for meds, i've been pretty lucky as the first anti-depressant that I tried worked pretty well for me. it's an SNRI. Then over time, my Dr and I experimented with adding other drugs to the mix. I probably wouldn't recommend this to others unless they've exhausted all options, but it works for me. i'm on a couple of anti-psychotics, one tat acts as a mood stabilizer and helps my anti-depressant work better and another one for anxiety. My biggest problem is I need to be on fairly high doses of each of them and that brings some troubling side effects. I was on clonazepam for years but found it was affecting my memory, so I tapered of it over around 18 months. it's definitely not recommended for long term use simply because to causes so much physical dependence. |

Is Klonopin okay to take for life? Also to take antidepressants and antipsychotics, a mood stabilizer, like Lithium for life?

HI ! I found that Benadryl is more effective than any anti depression meds. They don't work with me either...
