I've heard the illness only goes into Remission, whatever that means. So this is basically for life. Very sad.

((((InfiniteSadness))))

Just to be clear, to which illness are you referring?

Hi,

When it comes to mental health disorders I think a lot of it depends on how severe, acute or, hopefully, how 'mild' it is - very generally speaking. That's in terms of medication alone effecting a cure.

You say "all", so I'd say: No, some are resolved.

In my case, I'm always going to have to manage my mental health, though. I have severe major depression with psychotic features, GAD, and some OCD.

Bipolar and schizophrenia are lifetime illnesses but depression does not have to be.

Remission can be glorious. It can also last for years with the right meds and using coping skills gained from therapy

But there are so many somatic (physical, non-mental) diseases for which there is no cure and yet they can be well managed.
