Hi, I was upped from 75mgs of seroquel to 150. The psychiatrist said to take 100mgs for three days and then dose up to 150 and I still feel the same. I started taking the 100mgs 5 days ago and then boosted up to 150 about 3 days ago. So I’m wondering when is it supposed to work.

P.S. I’ve been on seroquel 75mgs for about several months now before the new dosage. Thanks.😊

@thatonedino welcome to MSF. I am glad you are following the advice of your psychiatrist.

I would contact the prescribers office or talk to the pharmacist or look in the literature that usually comes with meds to find out how long it takes.

Unofficially my gut sense is it can takes weeks to see any changes. Two different sources I googled said 2-3 months so I think it is safe to say just keep taking the meds and if you have any side affects report that to the psychiatrist and see what they advise.

How often do you see your psychiatrist?

This is still fairly low dosage. It isn't antimanic/antipsychotic dosage – that begins at roughly 300 mg. So the question is, why are you taking Seroquel and why are you titrating up? What is your diagnosis? What are your symptoms? What was insufficient in the relief you were getting at 75 mg that prompted your prescriber to up you to 150 mg? When you ask "when is supposed to work?", it would help to clarify what effect you are expecting to see.

Also, is it ER or IR (extended release or instant release)? When do you take your dose? At bedtime?

I take 75 mg of Seroquel for sleep. Lots of people take it off label at 75 mg or less for sleep, including people without any mental health diagnosis. This is a very common pattern of off label prescribing for Seroquel. But to stabilize moods, you need significantly more.

This is about on-label use only: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-sup...e/drg-20066912

As you see, dosage depends on what you are treating, what your goals are. E.g. for bipolar depression, no more than 300 mg. For mania, at least 300 mg but not more than 800 mg.
