Hallo, I am 50 years old and my bipolar disorder caused 4 major depressions and some hypomanias. I had to stop Lithium Carbonate which saved my life and kept me stable for 20 Years. As a consequence I had a major depression with 6 months in a clinic including electroconvulsion therapy. I am trying now to use Lithium Orotate. Unfortunately in Switzerland nobody has experience,so I am taking 10mg every day. Does anybody here can share experience with Lithium Orotate? Does somebody know how to contact medical advice by phone on this topic?
Thank you JordanoJOV |

Oh, you poor dear. I'm very sorry this happened to you. BPD is one of the few
things I managed to escape, but from time to time, as I practiced under extreme circumstances, I would have to adjust this medication for someone till they could I get back to you about who normally prescribed it? The National Alliance of Mental Illness operates a helpline and is a nonprofit group. They have a toll- free number (800) 950-6264. They operate for mental disorders stuff, such asBPD, much as RAINN, for who I volunteer. They have trained people who can answer questions or find resources for you. If anyone in the chain asks for money or a credit card number, please hang up. They should not do that and perhaps they can assist you, if you prefer telephone communication. __________________ |

Why did you stop Lithium Carbonate? If you were on a low dose and it was effective, but you stopped because of side effects, the orotate form might be helpful. It's the natural, gentler form of lithium compared to the carbonate. I've read a few studies that it can be helpful to boost mood, but it hasn't really been proven significantly effective in preventing mood episodes in those with bipolar.
Can't help ya with the medical advice over the phone though other than getting in touch with a doc. (btw BPD is Borderline Personality Disorder, BiPolar disorder is either BP or BD combined with the appropriate specifier. Cyclothymia is the other subtype, but I think PennyNail meant bipolar, not borderline.) __________________ [Insert thought-provoking and comedic quote here] |
