Would a drug test come back positive if someone takes OTC energy pills or drinks (such as Monster, Rockstar, etc)? I was wondering about maybe the supplements added to these. I had a drug test for a job a couple weeks ago and haven't heard back. The week of the test, I'd had alot of these. It kind of makes sense in that it might be possible, but I really don't know.

Hi inky,
If my memory serves me correctly, the OTC pills will only give you a problem if they contain one of the drugs that the company is testing for. Companies test for specific meds, not random ones. The energy drinks are a non-issue. My company even sells Red Bull in a vending maching... You shouldn't have a problem...I hope. My sister worked for a company that did drug testing. Most companies test for specific drugs: e.g. marijuana use, white-powder drugs (cocaine, crystal methamphetamines). The tests are usually 3 panel (3 different substances) so most OTC'S won't even show, stimulant or not.
