Has anyone else been on Cymbalta and seen very quick results or with another antidepressant? I've been on it only a week and I feel a whole lot b3etter. I am trying to look at things differently in general too. My pdoc says it helps with that and how it could be the same with the placebo as with some people... like a selffulfilling prophesy. He wouldn't put me on one until last week finally bc they made me manic last time I was on t hem; which I tend to do stupid things when I'm manic being too risky with making not the best decisions sometimes. He said he'd rather see me manic than how I was though. I was extremely suicidal and calling the crisis hotline quite a f3ew times even in just a week which was problematic bc it seemed like I kept sinking lower and lower into depression. The last time I was in crisis I was brought to the er in the back of a polic cruiser probly one of the scariest things I've ever experienced and definately don't want to have to again. They let me out after I was assessed by the crisis worker, they said they didn't have any beds int the crisis houses and my pdoc had told them at one point to not hospitalize me under any circumstances and they didn't think I needed to be hospitalized anyway so they discharged me from the er. I reemed them out and told them that things were F^cked up bc they had a security guard watching me outside the room while I was there but were sending me home later on after to my home where I was totally alone. I was a mess. I am glad I am feeling so much better. I figure either way it is all really in my head... whether it's just bc I want to feel better or if it's bc the drug is working; guess we'll never reallly know. Thanks for listening and commenting in advance take Care all.

evildouble..i have been on cymbalta for the past 5 years. It has helped me some but I still fall into depression, but it must be doing something because I'm still here. Sorry to hear about the visit to the ER. Does sound weird they would do that to you. I'm sorry, you deserve better treatment than that. I think they made a big mistake and you would have ending up paying the price. Good luck to you and i will keep you in my thoughts. puckyjan56

I think that with any antidepressant, you will begin to feel better in the first week. But it takes about 5 weeks or something like that to know what the full effect will be.

I've been on Cymbalta for well over a year now. I switched from Paxil, and I noticed the effects within days.

And with any antidepressant, there will be times when you might feel depressed. It's not a magic cure. It's just another tool to help you cope.

Hopefully, you will be under close supervision during the first couple of months on this new med. Whenever my pdoc changes or adjusts my meds, he usually wants to see me every few weeks until I stabilize.
