Haldol Question?! Confused?!

I took a haldol this week and it seem to make my anxiety increase! What gives?! Has anyone had this happen. I was taking as prescribed per my psych. for anxiety. Is anxiety a side effect of Haldol? Hope you guys can help me with this one. I will be bringing it up with my psych. as well next week. Thanks!

That can very well be a side effect of the drug. Alot of medication actually has anxiety has a side effect it's not abnormal at all.

SG03 - Sometimes Haldol™ (haloperidol) can cause anxiety, especially in the first week or two of therapy. This often does begin to lessen within the first week, as your body adjusts to the medication.

Another side effect of Haldol that can resemble anxiety is akathisia, which manifests as being unable to sit still. One may be fidgety, or need to keep moving around.

It is best to go over this with your doc, as he knows your history and your response to at least some medication, so he should be able to figure out the cause of the anxiety.
