Does the drowsiness ever wear off after you've been on it a few days? Or is it always this bad?

My pnurse wanted me to take 5mg, 3 times a day. But the first pill I took knocked me out - I slept for 14 hours straight!!

So...I've only been taking one a day, just before bed. I know I should just listen to her but I have too much I need to get done to be that zonked out all day.

This is only temporary, I don't think I'll be on Zyprexa forever. Just to help get me thru a rough spot until the Lamictal starts to work. (or that's how I understood it when she explained it to me)

Sounds like the dosage is just too high.

The drowsiness often does get better, but maybe you don't need to be taking it during the day..

Zyprexa does cause drowsiness.

CAUTION Zyprexa is also known to cause weight gain. It's not the drug itself but the way the drug increases the appetite. When I took Zyprexa I developed a 'sleep-eating' problem where I would get up at night and eat whatever I could find. Then in the morning I had no memory of it. By the time I realized why I was gaining weight I had put on 30-40lbs. Fortunately I have been able to lose what I gained since I got off the drug.

Yes cheetah, I did the sleep walking thing. Crumbs of food all over the house.
