I started taking Ambien for sleeping issues back in March. Trazodone gave me horrible nightmares. Well, Ambien really helped at first....but then the nightmares started and panic attacks came. Now Im lucky if I sleep without waking a gazillion times a night and I still wake in a panic and have nightmares often.

Should I see about d/c Ambien? I can't get sleep on my own, but I am SO tired all day everyday lately and Im wondering if its the drug.

Any opinons?

Hi Hallie,
I had horrible reactions while taking Ambien. I would have long conversations with people and not remember, sleep walk, sleep eat, sleep DRIVE! So D/C'd that puppy in a hurry!

Vistaril works great for me. It's an antihistamine so nonaddictive and no weird side effects. You can try it and if it doesn't work, try something else.

Good luck. I hope you find something that works for you. Sleep is SO important!
Love,
Okie

Ambien and sleep disturbance Ambien and sleep disturbance
I am all with Okie. I had the EXACT SAME reaction with Ambien and had to D/C it and now I am on Vistaril, too! I really like it cuz I don't feel drowsy in the morning and I don't have to worry about what I might have done the night before! Ambien and sleep disturbance

Good luck!

I had mild symptoms like that on Ambien at 10 mg taken each night. Now I take a half tablet, 5 mg, only when I need it, maybe a couple times a month. I don't have those problems now. Another example of how different meds affect us all differently.

The good thing about Vistaril besides it working so well is that it's cheap! At least the generic is. Ambien and sleep disturbance

Good luck.

Yeah, I would talk to them and see what else they can offer. I have really bad insomnia, too. Sometimes you have to experiment before finding just the right sleep meds.
I hope you find something that works so you can get some rest. Ambien and sleep disturbance
