Now....

Someone tell me how to take them in the morning with the bloody side effects and not want to puke?

... sigh. Anyone else have trouble going onto them and what did you do about it?

I'm hiding in bed for a few days in the morning when I take them. At least then I can sleep some of it off. Gots me some drugs! (Effexor!)

Wow, you seem to be having a pretty big reaction to it. My friend took it and had zero problems with side effect. Is your dose low enough? Maybe you are just real sensitive to it. Make sure you stay in touch with your pdoc. Meds have been great for me, but it took a lot of experimenting to figure out which ones.

He didn't start me on the lowest dose... 75mg. He thought I'd be able to handle it, since I had only a few problems on both of my previous ADs. Sigh.

... I just hope my body straightens itself out soon. Thanks ((((DePressMe)))))))))

...hang in there....I read your intro in general. I was a psych major too. I absolutely loved it. I hope your studies are going well and this med issue is not disrupting them.

Hi Christina,
Those initial side effects should go away pretty quickly. If they don't, ask to be dropped down to the 37.5 mg caps until you get used to that dose, then bump up.

I've taken Effexor XR for years and just recently went from 75 to 150. I didn't have a single side effect. I'm eternally amazed at how meds affect different people differently!
Take care,
Okie

Is there a reason you can't take them at bedtime?

I was told that they give people energy and was discouraged from taking them at night in case I couldn't sleep. I have a hard enough time with that already.

But I took them this morning at 7am, then went back to bed... Its now almost 10am, and I dont feel nearly as bad, yay Gots me some drugs! (Effexor!)

I found when I first went on Effexor and then every time I increased the dose, I'd get really bad side effects but they only lasted a few days. Are you taking the pills with food? That's supposed to help with the nausea.

Hope your body adjusts to it soon and that it helps.

I went and got some Ginger Gravol, which should help the nausea. I was told to expect this up to 10 days?! Yikes.

I have been taking it with food. I just need to figure out the best kinds... no milk or cheese-products for me for a while (looking at them actually made me feel sick).
