There are some other threads on Lamictal as well as reviews of it posted by consumers so check those out, too. I've been on Lamictal for about 8 years & it helps a lot with bipolar depression.

The doc will most likely start you on a very low dose & increase it very slowly to avoid side effects (esp. a rash which can be quite dangerous & I guess can come on if the dosage is increased too quickly). I've had no side effects. I take 150 mg in the a.m. & 150 mg in the p.m.

I also take quite a few other meds (Abilify, Trazodone, Topamax, Klonopin,Provigil, Concerta... so the doc does really need to work with you to get the right combo). But most people love Lamictal & find it very effective. Good luck.--Suzy P.S. Are you newly dxed?

I've been on Lamictal for a few years and it works well for me. I don't have frequent downs like I used to. I also have a cocktail of drugs and it took a while to find the right combination.
