I asked my pdoc to change my ad, mainly for monetary reasons. My copay for Cymbalta is $75. Way too much. I'm also sexually absent, dull, numb.
Anyone have any good experiences with Wellbutrin XL?
Am I messing up going from an NSRI to a SSRI? Will I feel worse? better? Will my libido return?
Any input would be great!!
Thank you

For some reason I had fantastic libido on Wellbutrin. I think it may have made me hypomanic...I also felt wired and aggressive. But I'm not trying to scare you away! It's a great med for some people, it just wasn't the right thing for me.

I am currently lowering my Cymbalta dose. Dull and numb are good words for how I've felt on Cymbalta...and very, very tired.

By contrast, I think Wellbutrin is less likely to make you tired, groggy, etc.

Good luck!

Hi Fire Dragon Mom

I was on all those anti depressants and taken off cause i'd gotten even more depressed. Anyway Wellbutrin was one i did try and the only thing i can remember from that one is that i cut back on smoking cigs. I didnt have the urge to smoke like usual.

Sorry i cant help you anymore.

I actually take them both, and the combination works well for me.
I started to take Wellbutrin (XL) because the insurance company was jerking me around about the cost of my Cymbalta dosage.

Wellbutrin isn't an SSRI - it's more of a dopamine agent. It doesn't have quite the side effect profile of ye olde standard SSRIs. I haven't had any notable side effects from the Wellbutrin - except that my sex drive has gotten a nice boost. (oh, darn)

I take Welbutrin and I like it. It doesn't make me tired. I switched to it from Prozac because of the sexual side effects. However, it's been 3 months without Prozac and with Welbutrin, and I still have NO sex drive. I hate that.

I was switched from zoloft to wellbutrin. It's working well for me. No noticable side effects - didn't effect libido-- My husband was also on wellbutrin and he had no side effects either.

I went off Cymbalta (I don't want to scare you... but... make sure you look into and prepare yourself for the experience... Cymbalta withdrawals are bad...)because it was unobtainable, and now I'm on Wellbutrin. It's ok... I think. But it varies so much by person... so, you just have to try it and see how it works for you.

Thank you all for the input.
What withdrawals symptoms are there?
I am really anxious today. Feel like jumping outta my skin.
I did have a large amount of coffee today which I never do.
