The psychiatrist just put my son on abilify , but he didn't say if he has bipolar disorder. D.J. is 6. Should I be worried about him taking this medicine . He is also on guanfacine for adhd.

It sounds like you aren't clear why your son is taking this medication. Please contact the doctor and have him explain to you why he is precribing it, how he expects it will help your son, how long he expects your son to be taking it, and what the alternatives might be.

D.J.sMom, please be sure you know exactly why your son has been prescribed his medications. You are your son's carekeeper and advocate. You have to know what he is taking and why in order to look out for him. Please contact his doctor as soon as you can. I think it is also prudent to make sure any medication he is taking has been FDA-approved for children 6 years old.
