I've had this neck pain for about 6 months, unable to move my head from side to side. It has been getting worse and worse, despite going to my doctor, who, last May, prescribed a strong dose of Naproxen Sodium. I tried taking it, but it tore up my stomach. I tried doing the exercises he recommended, and they only helped marginally, then not at all.
Visiting my aunt last week, she gave me a few of her Xanax. I broke the tabs in half at bedtime. So far, I've done this three nights in a row, and the neck pain is disappearing! I know the pain is stress-related, but I had hoped I could deal with it myself without resorting to drugs. My current physician doesn't like to prescribe it to me. I'm wondering if I shouldn't look for another doctor! Patty |

I wonder if Tyleol PM might help as well.
My doctor prescribed Xanax and I use it as needed. Taken regularly, one builds up a tolerance to it so a higher dose is needed. I notice this when I have times I need to use it often; I have to take more for the same effect. Luckily I don't need to use it often and I can use a quarter or even less of a .5mg tablet. I use it to stop anxiety attack symptoms. It was originally prescribed after I quit smoking and my anxiety skyrocketed. He continues to prescribe it because he sees that an Rx lasts me a very long time. Anyway, I have sciatica pain from back to toes and leg cramps regularly; then I injured my leg and now I have knee pain (xray negative, can't afford an MRI). I have had a very hard time sleeping because of the pain and leg cramps and recently decided to try Tylenol PM--it has worked great! I have my full night's sleep back and that makes everything better. I think it's worth a frank talk with your doctor if you feel it will help. Ask him for one Rx so you can see if it will help and to see how you will do with it. Be firm and tell your doctor it's what you want and ask why she/he is reluctant to prescribe it; maybe talking about will help your doctor feel more comfortable presribing it to you. Good luck to you! |
