I've been on Ambien 10 mg for about 2 months now. I'm starting to get incredibly depressed, very suicidal, seeming not to be thinking clearly.

Are there problems along the lines I gave that have been noted with Ambien?

Hi there,
I was on Ambien for about five months straight, Nov 07 to April 08. I didn't specifically have issues with depression/suicidality (I've had other issues with that but they weren't caused by or made worse by Ambien so far as I can tell.) The problem with me is was that after a couple mos it started making me incredibly anxious, hyper, and almost afraid to go to sleep-- when it took effect, I would start almost hallucinating (which isn't uncommon b/c some people use it recreationally to "trip") and then I'd get scared that something terrible would happen and not want to sleep. I can see how it could make someone depressed and suicidal-- it certainly affected my mood. (Also, it led to some night-eating and even online shopping, which was the final straw.) Please contact your psychiatrist immediately, or if you feel you can't control the suicidal thoughts, go to the ER ASAP.

<3,
Sam
