hi all,
just wondering if anyone has ever had the experience of being really emotional while being on their meds. I'm currently taking lexapro, and clonazepam, and on new years i drank enough and ended up bawling my eyes out without knowing why.... i'm wondering if it might have had something to do with the meds? Or if it might have been my usual emotional repression ![]() Thanks Jacq

Jacq, well, I have done both--I have cried my eyes out just because I was drunk and I have cried my eyes out when I combined psych meds and alcohol.
I am absolutely certain that psych meds combined with alcohol make me extremely emotional and somewhat unpredictable. It is not a good combination for me! I have said and done some pretty outrageous things! Hey, maybe you should play it safe and try not to drink too much? It sounds like it was not too much fun anyway??? Good luck!

Hi jacq10...
Like others have said, mixing alcohol with medications can be risky behavior with unpredicable outcomes... Alcohol, being a depressant, will certinly feed those remorsefull moods...and most medications, especially those directed at brain chemistry, will have distinct and direct warnings upon them concerning the use of alcohol.. Be carefull,,,you are a member of a few families,,this being one... ![]() Lenny

Yeah drinking and meds is not a good combo. Especially on clonzapaem (klonopin). I found drinking on it and SSRI's lead me to be a lot more emotional and my behavior was really unpredictable. Someone I know noticed it and she said that she had a friend who drank on her psych meds and the same thing happened with her. Plus alcohol interferes with the positive effects of psych meds. Not worth the risk. Sounds like alcohol is not something you bother with so that's good.
