I'm on Wellbutrin XL 450mg, and have been for years and years. I have not descended into a deep, prolonged depression that required ECT to get rid of, since I’ve been on it.

Wellbutrin XL is unrelated to any other type of anti-depressant.

It’s a unicyclic aminoketone, which is unrelated to SSRIs, SSNRIs, & MAOs.

I guess the current theory is that SSRIs help unipolars and SSNRIs help bipolars.

Are there any Bipolars out there who take Wellbutrin XL or have in the past? Has it helped?

Are there any Major Recurrent Depressives out there who take Wellbutrin XL or have in the past? Has it helped?

I have MDD and I take Wellbutrin XL and it works great for me. A huge mood lifter.

Hi Lbien, I have been off and on Wellbutrin for over 10 years. I struggle with severe treatment resistant depression. I think the Wellbutrin helps a lot but I also have to take it in conjunction with Seroquel. So far that has been the best combo of meds I have ever been on.
