hi all,

im dxd with major depressive disorder and bipolar 1 (among other things of course), and after being on wellbutrin for years ive decided to try something new. ive been completely off of my wellbutrin for about a week and (though i havent felt the med has done any good for my depression in a long time) im now noticing that little stimulant kick that buproprion does offer, or rather im noticing the lack of that little kick.

after doing some research, i saw that zoloft could also be a good choice for patients hoping to find an SSRI with somewhat of a stimulant effect. i am bipolar, but deal much more with severe depression and have had good results taking topamax as a mood stabilizer. i just really need to get back on an anti-depressant.

sorry to ramble. med changes are so scary!

basically, I JUST REALLY WANT SOME +/- FEEDBACK ABOUT ZOLOFT!
im really nervous to start a new SSRI, but anything will be better than the past few weeks not being on any anti-depressants. its been miserable -

again, sorry for rambling - guess the title said it all,
my nerves are eating me alive! thanks for yr patience! ahh!
any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanks ahead of time!

Feedback on zoloft.

Personally >> zoloft for me kept me totally level >>> emotions asto depression [ for me ] were non-existent,,,,bi-polar was in check fairly well .

Now something else I gained was some of an ability to look at new coping skills ,, for anxiety....that came as a memory of how to let the little stuff go ...
But ,,,
all that happened after I came off it after 15 ,,, 16 months .

O !!! BTW ,,,, wellbutrin made me quit coffee ... LOL .
Thanks for this!

wmd -

thanks so much for yr response. i was feeling quite worried that i hadnt heard anything... (is that a good sign? a bad sign?) im crossing and double crossing my fingers, and trying to figure out a way to cross my toes inside my boots, that zoloft will work. 12 YEARS OF PIDDLING AROUND WITH MEDS IS GETTING REALLY BLOODY TIRESOME! so, thanks very much for your + vote!

oh, and i was a fiend for diet coke, and coffee before wellbutrin. and a heavy smoker. that damned pill rid me of my caffeine addiction AND turned me from a pack a day smoker (since age 14, im 2 weeks shy of 28) to a 2 packs A WEEK smoker. BUT IF IT ONLY JUST ZAPPED MY BLASTED DEPRESSION!

at any rate, thanks again for yr response - i really appreciate yr time
and thoughts. have a safe new years, yeh?

I do not have bipolar disorder. My dx is major depression. Bear that in mind when reading my comment, ok?

I credit zoloft for a large part of my recovery from depression. It didn't "cure" my depression, but it enables me to keep the beast under control. I don't know if it will work for you, but it worked wonders for me.
Thanks for this!

I have been taking Zoloft for major depression and it has helped my depression very much. I am increasing dosage right now because of a return of the depression and the fact that I was taking such a low dosage. I didn't sleep a wink last night and wonder if that's the "kick" you describe...but overall in only a matter of days my mood has lifted again. I think I'll try giving up caffeine.

Good luck!

My doctor took me off of Zoloft because he thought I might have had bipolar1. he said that Zoloft would make the mania worse. But idk. He turned out to be an idiot.
