Hi everyone I am new here.

I have been taking Zoloft 200mg/day for my OCD/Depression.

I just went to my neurologist fo rmy migraines, and he put me on amitriptyline 40mg a day. He said it will be safe with zoloft.

I am very concercened about serotinin syndrome.

I am going to ask my psychiatrist next time I see him, but has anyone done this combo before? Right now I have the prescription but holding off on taking it until I find out for sure.

Thanks for any info.

I have to tell you I'm not sure about the Elavil but my husband was told the same thing regarding Zoloft and the pain medication Ultram. Our doctor, though, even argued with the pharmacist about it. As long as they know your health history, your medication history and any reactions you may have had in the past, then you should be safe with the mix. However, if you still have a question, ask your Pharmacist. Ours is always wayyyyyyy aggressive about our meds not interacting with each other or atleast letting us know if there is a chance.

Good luck,
Kimberly.

Saw your post. This is a potentially dangerous combination as the Zoloft can increase levels of the Amitriptyline to potentially harmful (lethal) levels. Documented deaths have occured with Prozac (in the same SSRI family as Zoloft) and Amitriptyline. Your pharmacist can verify this.
