What did you like/hate about it, what did it do for you...etc.?
Weight gain and memory issues are two things I'm worried about.

Over the years I've been on:
Prozac
Abilify
Zoloft
Effexor
And I'll be coming off Lithium but staying on Lamictal

? Experiences? Comments?

Lexapro made me yawn incessantly. Like 40 times an hour. It was embarrassing. Switched to Celexa and I like it.

I think Lexapro and Brintellix are by far the best SSRIs since, they both don't have any side effects, work pretty good for MDD and bipolar depression, however they pooped out since they're SSRIs not SNRIs...best of luck! Oh, besides Cymbalta, Lexapro is the fastest working AD, you can begin to feel positve effects in the first week!
Thanks for this!

Lexapro caused a few different side effects for me... Excess hunger, which would have turned into weight gain if I stayed on it, cognition issues really felt like I was losing my intelect, GI pain, worse depression (which is when I stopped taking it)

I started at 5mg for 2 weeks then 10mg for a week before stopping.

I'm on lexapro right now it's my first. Seems to do well. Had headaches and nausea the first few weeks but that tapered off and are now gone. Usually does well. Except every other week I get really down and start to want to SI and SUI. I've picked up my anxieties again too. It helpe. At first but now I have the same reaction to my anxieties. Pdoc is supposed to up dose on Tuesday so I'll see if that works.

I didn't have any side-effects from it but it also didn't improve my mood, so I eventually stopped taking it.

I gave it a try a while back. It made me incredibly tired, no matter if I took it in the evening or in the morning. I'd sleep 20 hours a day if I didn't force myself out of bed. I also became fixated on death, mine in particular. Those are things I've had in the past, but hadn't been having at all prior to beginning the Lexapro. Both of those things subsided a couple of weeks after discontinuation.

I haven't seemed to tolerate any of the meds I've tried.

I was having severe driving anxiety and went on Lexapro. It eliminated the panic quickly. I am still on it. It might cause weight gain...I am really hungry but don't know which med is doing it.
I did try to go off of Lexapro and I constantly fell asleep so I went back on it.

The only thing that it did for me was decrease my desire for food of any kind . Would have been fine if I weren't dealing with anorexia

I was on Lexapro for over a year - and it did nothing for me. I finally had to request that I be put on Cymbalta. I started at 60mg which did nothing - until I finally got
a new Psychiatrist who changed my RX to 90mg. and added Klonopin. Now I have
never felt better in my life.
Thanks for this!

I had an idiot pdoc who started me at 20 mg instead of 10 mg. It made me vomit.

All SSRIs give me headaches, except prozac. I have no idea why and it makes no logical sense.

First time on Lexapro it worked well...but I gained 50 pounds. Tried it two other times and had horrible anxiety when I started it, so much so that I stopped it. Now I'm on Viibryd, but it's way too early to tell if it's doing anything for me.
Thanks for this!

i liked my 30mg of lexapro, it quelled my constant irritability and had made life tolerable for the past 3 years
unfortunately i'm just always passively suicidal so i went into my pdoc's with questions about a personality disorder and now he's switched my AD twice in two months
i feel emotionless 80% of the time and a huge ball of shame and guilt and anxiety the other 20%
we'll see how this new one goes but i might just go back to the lexapro
the ****** thing for me was the yawning and incessant jaw clenching (i could barely eat anything the first week i was on it cause my jaw was in so much pain - and then it was just a constant problem after that)
also it killed my libido in the beginning and going off cold turkey is not a good idea (though i probably did it 5 times... the brain zaps are horrible, it felt like when you hit your funny bone, only my whole body was my funny bone)
idk i feel like AD's don't work for me

When I first started taking it, it took the "edge" off my anxiety but I don't think it's working anymore. Another pro was that it made it extremely hard for me to ejaculate during sexy time, which was great for the wife. However, it was also a con because I couldn't ejaculate.

I was on Lexapro for 7 years, 20 and even 30 mg. It's a great SSRI for many people. As I have made my way around the SSRI wheel, I have now landed on Prozac for bonus points, but Lexapro was an all time classic circa 2005 to 2012.

I'm on Lexapro 10mg. I've been on it since September with some hiccups.
Cons:
-Irratability, and I mean I sometimes rage like the hulk inside.
-Emotional blunting, I rarely feel positive emotions or any for that matter. Drinking is just about the only things that helps me feel with it, so it makes me drink constantly
-Jaw Clenching
-It's harder for me to ejaculate. I do it once a day. I use to be able to 5 times a day, but who has time for that anyway? lol

Pros:
-I am Fearless on this stuff. Complete confidence. Cool as a cucumber when -I'm not agitated.
-No anxiety
-A lot less depression, however I get depressed/frustrated that I cant feel emotions. It's sad.
-No Panic attacks
