I have seasonal effective disorder, depression and anxiety due to a lifetime of varied abuse. I had a really rough time of it this winter, when I really bad. I finally found the right drugs and am leveling out. The psychiatrist knew I was doing better and actually said to me after I told him how good I felt, 'That's good but what are we gonna do this winter?' If I wasn't suicidal before, I am now!

You should have said..."Ah, get you to write me out 3 months of Rx at the beginning of the season so I don't go through hell again before you figure out I need something."

HI Mrs. Dork,

It sounds like your pdoc is insensitive, but when I first read his statement it felt like he was acknowledging how you feel better now, but uncertain whether the current cocktail of meds will be effective enough for the SAD.

I'm glad you feel better now.

I think next time you can clarify for him that you feel the medications are helping and you expect them to help next winter too. I think maybe he misunderstood what you were saying.
