I’m wondering how you all would feel about this...
Last night was my weekly session. Upon leaving she told me I could leave the door to her office open ( she usually will only say that if she is done for the day) I am usually her last client. As I’m leaving out the front door I was somewhat startled because a man asked me to hold the door ( she has a security code). At the time I didn’t think anything of it. But when I got in my car I found myself wondering what if this guy was an intruder? It just felt weird because she said it was okay to leave her office door open which typically it’s closed if she is expecting more clients.
So I emailed her late last evening ( email is allowed and okay) letting her know of my concerns without sounding over the top. I simply asked her to let me know that all is well. Here it is a day later and no response at all. God forbid something had happened but if it had I’m sure it would have been on the news and media. I find it inconsiderate that she couldn’t even give me a quick “ I’m okay”, anything to not have me worried. How would you feel about this?

I hope everything is ok. I would probably be worried to but then again I worry about everything to excess.
Thanks for this!

I dunno. But the swing from concern to inconsiderate seems a bit off.
Thanks for this!

I also find it inconsiderate.

I would be really worried. It happened to me once when I was a late appointment and left the building after it was locked, and someone went in as I exited. I worried that my therapist was alone inside, but I also worried about making too much of it, so I did not email. Nothing came of it, but if I had emailed and did not hear back, I would have been scouring the police bulletin for reports. I have been a crime victim and this sort of thing puts my imagination in overdrive. I hope you hear from her soon.

Did you explain why you were interested in her well-being? If not, she may have no clue what it is about and what you expect of her. If it was late last night and you did not have a specific request, she may just be busy and have no clue why it would be urgent to respond.

I would be freaking out to, but I freak out over unanswered emails even so...I'm not sure if I'm the best judge

Do you have any other way to contact like email? Maybe try something else or just say something like, you just want to confirm your next appointment time to see if she replies
Thanks for this!

I was genuinely concerned, but I was also aware that she was probably fine in which the lack of response felt inconsiderate to me. She finally responded just a little while ago and she is okay.

Right... that’s how I was feeling. It was just odd, this guy just popped up and was like “ hold the door please”.. thankfully it was nothing : ). She emailed a little while ago

I was specific in my email and explained my concerns. I told her that it was probably fine but it just was a bit unsettling how this person popped up out of nowhere. She finally responded just a little while ago and she is okay.
