Do you observe the surroundings of T room?

I have to admit, I just noticed in my last session that there's a small trashcan beside the couch. I'd never noticed that before.

LOL..he can have my Ts couch.

Its a good think I haven't yet lost control to my inner children during therapy...I know the first thing they would say is..."Why do you have such an ugly couch?" I also don't care much for a big impressionist type painting on the wall directly acrossed from where I sit. My children would definately not withold about that either.

It's what I always do, especially when I'm not really comfortable.

I know my last T's office layout by heart, I could tell you the color of the couch and the giant plant she had and what shapes the leaves were and the view from her window, all the different toys she had on a shelf but I was always too afraid to take a look at. I can tell you the exact layout of the T's office I have now, he has three stuffed animal dogs, one of them is a german shepherd. Though, I don't look around as much in his room. I feel safer there I suppose.

I have memorized the contents of the T room...and its an enormous room. It's really comforting to see the same things over again. But when she has changed her room I love it that I noticed the difference.

I wonder what the futon mattress in her room is for.

It's weird....in T's office, she has some small overhead lights in the ceiling, and then a couple lamps. The first thing I notice when I walk into the room is whether her overhead lights are on or not. I actually like it better when the overheads are off, and the room is lit by only the lamps.

I always notice what's in my T's office. He has changed things around since i began seeing him almost 4 years ago. If he changes photos or stuff on his wall, I notice it. He also doesn't have a big office. I sit on a couch that's against the window, so I dont' know what's going on outside. I focus mainly on him. He recently took some stuff off of his wall and replaced it with music memorabilia. He has a chair in one corner of the room and I know that some of his clients sit on that chair. But I prefer the couch - it's leather and very soft and I love the feeling I get of sinking into it. He sits in a big leather chair by his desk.

pdoc shares his office with other pdocs and i notice everything and he gets surprised because he doesn't notice it himself a lot of the time.

with old-T i knew the place like the back of my hand, lol. there were ants that used to crawl in a crack in the corner closest to me, and they were my therapy-friends. but one day they were gone and it made me so sad. i hope they weren't killed.

with Austin-T i dont remember anything much, actually. very weird.

I just find it really interesting because growing up I was always a perfectionist. Everything had to be just right. If someone walked in my room and moved something the slightest bit on my dresser, I would know immediately. I am still sort of a perfectionist maybe not as picky and I use to be. But with school work ect...I stress alot over it.
Even in my house today, I will notice something immediately if my roomate moves something or adds something.

I just wonder what it is that causes me to shut out the surroundings there, unless it's because my focus is her, her reactions, movements ect....
