I wrote this, but learned it all in therapy. It's such an amazing thing, and my T makes it so much better.
Enjoy. Take what you can get- and leave the rest. Accept but never settle. Believe in yourself. You have the ability to be in control of yourself. Your life is all what you make of it, and nothing else. Stop trying to believe life is something that “happens to you”. No matter what you may think, the world is not out to make you miserable. You’re not a victim unless you choose to be. It’s all about the journey, and today is the first day. Make the choices necessary to point yourself in the right direction. Live in the moment, for today, and don’t dread on the past. Instead, focus on what you do have control over, which is NOW. Avoid using words like "always" or "never". Those extreme words will only set you up for disappointment. Be healthy, in mind and body. Don’t indulge or deprive your body of physical needs like food and sleep. Drink plenty of water and stay in tuned to your emotional needs. Keep balance. Everything in moderation is key. Become self-aware and understand your motives for things. Learn to step outside yourself and observe. Don’t judge. Let it be, and make choices based on what you are striving for. Dream. And reach for them. Life can be meaningless if you have nothing to strive for. Believe in something, even if it's magic. Envision somewhere over the rainbow. See the good in difficult situations. Be optimistic to a fault. Never doubt your ability. Develop a healthy self-image, and reinforce it everyday. Be inspired by someone, and let them somehow be apart of you. Keep it forever. Stay the course. Use your tunnel vision. Stay focused on what you need to do in the near future. Breathe, so you won’t be overwhelmed. Express yourself through writing, music, or art. Then share it with someone close and discuss. You will feel a sense of weightlessness. Connect with those you care about. You are never alone. Don’t act out what you need, ask for what you need. No one wants to read your mind. Nor are they able to. Stop manipulating. You’re only hurting yourself. Be who you want. Love who you are. Be good to yourself, you deserve it.
