I've very recently become aware that I might actually have a problem. I have tried going to my parents for help but my fathers an idiot and my mother keeps turning the table on me. I don't know who to talk to bc Im to afraid about what they might think, but everyday my headaches get worse and my emotions are getting harder to control. Im always on edge and I dont want to be. Sometimes I think I'm overreacting, but what if Im not? How do I really know I need help? And how can I convince my mother to step outside of herself and take me to a dr or a therapist? I'm not the person I used to be and that isn't enough.....
Thanks for this!

All these things that you wrote, thca are reasons you SHOULD get help. Even if you are unsure, it never hurts to go see a therapist as a sounding board. But most likely, if you are wondering...you probably could use some guidance. Are you still living at home? And need your parents help to pay?

thca61 - thank you for posting. If you feel that you need help, then you should do what you are doing to try to get help. Sometimes a parent will not see what is needed, and being a dependent makes it hard to get help a parent will not give.
Do you have any way to get help from your school? Here in the USA, most public schools have guidance counseling for students. The counselor will make sure a student gets professional help outside of school if that is needed.

The other options you have are to keep posting here on PC if you are able to do so. There are many experienced people on this board who are awesome about helping out if they have ideas on specific issues. You can start out in the forums that best fit your needs right now.

I would accent the headaches, tell your mother they appear to be getting worse and you'd like to see the doctor. If you don't think it will help, don't discuss any anxiety or stress problems you feel you have with her, tell the doctor what's what and let him tell her if he needs to.
