I'm having a few days in Dublin, miss my normal therapy this week, T said like she always does that I can email, and I smiled and said, Im sure I'll be fine, she replied, well you can email even if your fine..being away always brings up loss for me, a feeling of being in a place that is so unfamiliar (new family, loss of birth mother), strange my birth mother was Irish and this is my first time over here and its like being amongst my own, we all have this certain look around our eyes, irish eyes, and this makes me feel sad too because ireland was meant to be my heritage but I was raised some place else, I often think about black children or for that case any foreign child adopted into a foreign family in more than one way, its a sort of another loss that needs to be mourned...but apart from this its good, I found a coffee shop today, I was drawn to the stop front that had "Freud" painted across it, hoping to get a free session lol, instead I asked for a cup of neurosis shaken nor stirred LOL!! I will email T and tell her, I'm fine!
Thanks for this!

Did you get your cup of neurosis? How did it taste?

Hope you have a good break. And don't forget T's offer if you feel you need to take it up

Emailed T just telling her my feeling of finally "coming home"..this trip has turned into my once in a life time pilgrimage..being adopted I've spent a life time envying others for "fitting in", whilst I've always felt on the outside, being here I finally feel 2 parts of me coming together..becoming whole...T replied and said yes, identity is more than just the physical...I feel that hole most of us feel gone, I sat alone for a while today in the grounds of a castle in kilkenny today and felt everything I'd lost coming back to me...if I never come back to ireland again this will remain with me...something I can carry around...T said sounds like a good trip all round...
Thanks for this!

Very good Melba! I have a lot of Irish heritage. When I was on that side of the Atlantic earlier this year for 6 months, I met an Irish guy (I wasn't in Ireland!) and I swear I thought he was my brother! If I would have taken him to one of my family reunions he would have fit right in and everybody would have loved him. He had the same qualities that I had. I was so amazed how genetics work. It was like, "you are my people!" He reminded me of my dad and his siblings so much and I love this side of my family.

Were you planning this trip for awhile?

Sort of, for me I struggle a lot with going away from home, various reasons. Interesting time to be in Ireland at the moment, talking about another generation emergrating again because of the political situation over here. In the cab today on the radio they were sining songs about sons and daughters leaving and I understood more about my birth mothers decisions I feel from this trip, though she had mental health issues and was abusive, looking at the history of Ireland I think she actually did the best she could and run from Ireland to London...I'm glad I came, I'm glad I found what Ive been looking for and in finding what I've been looking for I've found what I got also! I think therapy helped oil the wheels for this to happen...I haven't miss T like I normally do but have missed my kids and dogs going home tomorrow.
Thanks for this!

I love studying my genealogy because of the feeling of connection I get; it's like having a more secure base. Only my mother's mother's father's parents were Irish (I'm 1/8th? :-) My mother's father's father's mother's mother was Scottish Everyone else was English.

OK, I guess I have to state also that my ancestry includes English, Scottish, and Scots-Irish. Who knows what all else?

Maybe Adam, Eve, Snake, and so on.

I think wanting to find out more about such a close ancestor as ones mother is a little more than just wanting to trace ones family tree? I get we all have ancestors, but we all don't loose our birth mothers? Just had to state that
