Therapist dumped me

I am not sure if I have mentioned this before, but this has happened before. It was last May. And the therapist mentioned to me that she was leaving. Our last meeting never happened. Come to find out she had to sue the clinics owner for breach of contract.

Then I started seeing this other therapist December. I had an appt the 18 they called and canceled. Then the next week I show up for my appt and there's a note on the door saying in a staff meeting. No on was there. I called when I got home and was very upset, left a message.

Yesterday I called and was told the therapist was gone. I kinda knew but needed to hear it.

I made two complaints with my insurance company. They said the male counselor was not even listed.

I have gotten a complaint form( State Board of NM) so I can put it against the clinic's owner, and both of those therapist. Will fill those out and hope they do something... Feel so disrespected!

Also did some searching and found out that the clinic's owner, only has a MA. Her license is "pending" status. She does not even have a license number. I am not sure she is even suppose to be seeing clients. In New Mexico they do not recognize that enough to give a license. *And she was sued for school loans. I am just wondering if that is why the degree is pending.

Yikes - I wish I had some advice for you, that's rough when people who (in our minds at least) should be the most dependable let you down...

In this case, you may need to present this to a law firm. Hate to say it, but you can try one of the firms that don't get money until they win. If the clinic has insurance, you may be able to get the lawyers to take it from that point.

I say this not to be mean, but the fact that this is medical malpractice.

you can post about this as much as you need to. it sounds like that clinic is a mess. maybe your insurance co. can help you figure out how best to proceed.

I'm sorry those things happened to you. That clinic sounds like a train wreck. I think good advice (which doesn't help you with your current injuries) is to check out a therapist with your state board of health before you see him. My state has a website you can go to and search on any health practitioner in the state and see if they are licenses, when they got the license, what type it is, what complaints they have had filed against them, etc. I did this before my daughter started with her therapist.

I hope you proceed with filing a complaint. I hope something gets done about these people who took advantage of you.

IMO, it is not worth hiring a lawyer. They have to show some sort of irreparable harm caused, and that wouldn't necessarily be easy in this case, or worth the hassle of doing it. I'm not saying you were not injured by this, but there is a burden of proof required by the law. If your goal is to put a black mark on these "therapists'" record and potentially have them lose their license, the best route is filing an official complaint through the state, just as you are.
