I'm meeting my T tomorrow and I want to talk to her about how to plan for a very sensitive self-disclosure on my part.
These are the questions I have for her so far. If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear about them. 1. What issues have you dealt with in your practice? (My idea is that if she lists what she has faced and what I'm about to tell her is on the list, then I will know she won't be as shocked.) 2. Do you have any tips on how i can more comfortably self-disclose? 3. My issue involves another person. Is it right to break another's confidence? 4. I won't be able to keep talking after disclosure. What can we do instead? Quiet time? Meditate? Listen to music? ????? 5. I will feel more comfortable sitting on the floor with you. Will you do that? 6. Any sliver of positive regard you have had for me will be gone. How can I cope with that? 7. How can I leave your office in one piece after self-disclosure? |

i think your questions are a great way to decide if it is ok and then i would also go for sitting on the floor if this is allowed.i love the floor

I like your questions, suratji.
When I first started disclosing things to my T that were hard, I talked A LOT about talking about it. I asked questions, I talked about why I was afraid to tell..actually, a lot of work got done JUST in the talking about talking. I felt a lot safer after getting my questions answered, and got to a lot of issues just talking about why it was so scary to tell. Good luck tomorrow! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Those are great questions!
My T and I talked about the feelings around disclosing something before getting into it too. I can't believe how helpful that was. I am a huge fan of the floor even if my T doesn't join me. ![]() Good luck! |

The biggest question for me (I haven't disclosed much yet) is "What kind/how much support will I get this week if I get unstable?"
