Yay me! I finally told T the big X story! My worst possible secret that I was sure was unbelievable! Well, actually, I had to write it, because this is me, after all, but I DID IT! And he gave me a double session on the spot so we could process it AND he believed me! OMG I am so free! I probably won't be speaking for a few days but still it's SO cool! This little bout of mutism might just be worth the cost!
Thanks for this!

So proud of you! That was really very sweet that your T let you have a double-session....it probably helped a lot to figure things out.

Ellie-Beth - congratulations. I can relate. When I finally got the courage to tell my T my worst secret, it was liberating. And we also had scheduled a double session so that I wouldn't feel rushed. It was really really hard but worth it in the end.

WOOHOO!!! Good Job!!! Doesn't it feel relieving?! I had to do the same thing, write something out to T that I couldn't speak about and it feels so much better to have it out. Congrats!

I just got back from a 4 day retreat with my other support person and was feeling so awesomely safe. So T asked HOW safe and I said safe enough to talk about x but there wasn't enough time. So he just said well how about a double session since no one was next and so we got out the clipboard since we both knew my words would get stuck.

He read my writing about x out loud (I like it when he does that because it gives me a "voice") and he paused every now and then to comment like "Yes, that makes sense". He was so calm and positive and he agreed with me that x was the root cause of all my subsequent issues and that now my big long messy puzzle makes sense to him. He said it was some of the best work I'd done in session and he was proud of my progress and he was sure that someday the mutism could go away!

He also said he's worked with other people who had been through x and he gave me words for some of the things I was describing that I didn't know names for. I doubted him on one (because I really thought I was imagining it) but he verified that yes my memory was real and we even took time to Google it so I could have proof that I was remembering the truth! He's SO awesome!
