Hey guys

Firstly I want to say how these boards are great and I am so glad I joined and everyone has been lovely so thank you

I thought it would be interesting to find out some general info about everyone regarding their therapy, therapists and themselves, maybe to see if many similarities or differences appear I'm just making the questions up. Please dont feel you have to do it if you would rather not, or feel free to leave some questions out

Are you Male or Female?

What age are you? Teens, 20's, 30's etc

When did you start Therapy?

How long have you been with your current Therapist?

Is your Therapist male or Female?

What type of Therapy do you recieve from your therapist? E.g. CBT, Person centred, intergrative etc.

How often do you see your Therapist?

How do you feel about your Therapist?

How many different Therapists have you had in total?

How do you feel when you imagine ending?

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often?

Do you pay for your Therapy?

What do you like most about going to Therapy?

Briefly describe how or why you think Therapy has helped you?

Thanks for anyone who answers, I just thought it might be interesting to see people's answers

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often?

Are you Male or Female? Female

What age are you? Teens, 20's, 30's etc 61

When did you start Therapy? First time--when I was 35. This time--6 months ago.

How long have you been with your current Therapist? 4 months

Is your Therapist male or Female? Male

What type of Therapy do you recieve from your therapist? E.g. CBT, Person centred, intergrative etc. mixture--some CBT; doing as a couple with hubby
w
How often do you see your Therapist? normally, once a week; a few weeks not

How do you feel about your Therapist? respectful, grateful

How many different Therapists have you had in total? over my lifetime: 5

How do you feel when you imagine ending? a little scared that hubby won't evolve back to his old ways

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often? only once when I was suicidal--I had promised I would call

Do you pay for your Therapy? Insurance has paid for all but one session; since then, our out-of-pocket maxium for medical has been paid

What do you like most about going to Therapy? having a neutral forum to review issues in the relationship; helps hubby see where he is wrong and responsible

Briefly describe how or why you think Therapy has helped you? over time, I have come to know myself better and have matured as a person. Therapy certainly helped with this. I went for nearly two years when I was divorcing my first husband. This current therapy has helped me and hubby see that hubby was wrong; he did hurt me severely; he has conflict phobia and blames me rather than look within; that he behaved childishly and selfishly and violated our vows and his values. It has helped me understand my depression and it's effects on my personality and behavior better. I am learning to curb my anger better as well.

When did you start Therapy? in college for a few years; then in my late 20's for a few years; then again in my 40's

How long have you been with your current Therapist? 6 years

Is your Therapist male or Female? male

What type of Therapy do you recieve from your therapist? E.g. CBT, Person centred, intergrative etc. -- mostly cbt oriented; somewhat eclectic

How often do you see your Therapist? once a week generally; more often if in crisis

How do you feel about your Therapist? he is a strong therapist; very honest; he's my rock

How many different Therapists have you had in total? 3 that I count

How do you feel when you imagine ending? I'm looking forward to being able to walk with my head held high, on my own two feet. I think I'm just about there.

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often? Sometimes if I am in crisis mode I talk to him by phone in between sessions, but I only do this in a crisis. I choose to work through the bumps in the road using the skills I have learned in therapy.

Do you pay for your Therapy? Yes, insurance covers about 2/3 of the fee. I pay around $40.

What do you like most about going to Therapy? It is a touchstone with someone who works with me objectively, with honesty, and with no strings attached.

Briefly describe how or why you think Therapy has helped you? I have gained that sense of autonomy that I so lacked before. I am so much stronger.
Hopefully I've answered all your questions.

Are you Male or Female?
Female

What age are you? Teens, 20's, 30's etc
mid-30's

When did you start Therapy?
First time in 2001 to 2004, then again in 2009

How long have you been with your current Therapist?
almost 2 years

Is your Therapist male or Female?
Female

What type of Therapy do you recieve from your therapist? E.g. CBT, Person centred, intergrative etc.
Mostly psychodynamic

How often do you see your Therapist?
Once a week for an hour

How do you feel about your Therapist?
I think she is a wonderful person. We really click and work well together.

How many different Therapists have you had in total?
3

How do you feel when you imagine ending?
It depends - if it's my choice or a mutual decision to end, I think I'll be okay with that...if she just decides to end it, then I will feel abandoned. I haven't thought too much about it, though.

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often?
Yes, as needed - by email or phone. I try to keep it to no more than one phone call or one or two emails between sessions, and sometimes I don't contact her at all.

Do you pay for your Therapy?
Sigh - yes.

What do you like most about going to Therapy?
I like her office - it's calming! I like being able to talk to someone and not feel like I'm being judged or like I have to be whatever I think the other person wants me to be. I can be myself and I'm accepted for that.

Briefly describe how or why you think Therapy has helped you?
Hmmm - well...the biggest is that I'm no longer having anxiety attacks on a daily basis, and when I do have one, I'm able to deal with it (usually) and if I can't, I have someone I can reach out to. I'm learning healthier coping skills, and learning why I do the things I do and think the things I think.

What age are you? Teens, 20's, 30's etc. 30
When did you start Therapy? January of 2008

How long have you been with your current Therapist? 3ish years

Is your Therapist male or Female? Female

What type of Therapy do you recieve from your therapist? E.g. CBT, Person centred, intergrative etc. Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic. She suggested last November EMDR to me, so I have an EMDR T as well.

How often do you see your Therapist? Once a week

How do you feel about your Therapist? I like her, and think she is very smart. It is an interesting dynamic with her and my EMDR T in the same room. They have very different approaches.

How many different Therapists have you had in total? I went to my mom's T after college for a few sessions, but it was a complete failure.

How do you feel when you imagine ending? I can't imagine it right now, but it will be an adjustment, thats for sure.

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often? Yes. It used to me just e-mailing her when I was not doing well, but she said I was using e-mail to avoid actually talking about those things in session. She was right. So, now I leave VM's if needed, and sometimes still use e-mail. She has never said "I told you not to use e-mail!!!" which I GREATLY appreciate. She seems ok with it, when she knows I just couldn't leave a VM about that.

Do you pay for your Therapy? A co-pay, yes. I could NEVER afford it otherwise.

What do you like most about going to Therapy? Therapy has been hard for me. Hard for me to open up and talk. Hard for me to trust. But, I do like being able to go in there and just be "me" and it is ok. If I am completely unenthusiastic and depressed and non-talkative, its ok. If I am excited and talking fast (and loud), its ok!

Briefly describe how or why you think Therapy has helped you? It is slowly letting me feel my feelings--which I do not like by the way. I am more aware of what I do and say and how others perceive me. I am trying to learn to not be so harsh on myself.

How do you feel about your Therapist? For the most part, we get along very well. I do get upset with her at times, but that is just part of the process.

How many different Therapists have you had in total? only one

How do you feel when you imagine ending? I am not sure that I will ever get to that point. My situation is an ongoing thing. She is somewhat of my life coach.

Do you have contact between sessions? If so, how often? Yes. Email 2-3 times per week.

Do you pay for your Therapy? Yes. $50 per session until I meet my deductible. Then it will be $10 per session.

What do you like most about going to Therapy? Having ME time. It is all about me!

Briefly describe how or why you think Therapy has helped you? It is helping me to figure out who I am, why I do the things I do, why I react to things like I do, etc....
