Seriously, my two urgent texts arrived to him like 12 hours after the fact! (Ok, the 1st was 12 hrs late, the 2nd only 1 hour late, but still...)

I just tried an urgent message again and it looks like he still hasn't gotten it. He said yesterday they'd changed the alert settings so he'd get messages right away, but apparently the dino phone still has issues.

I'm going to have to just call so he can see my number and call back. If he's the same age as me, why is his technology stuck in the dark ages?!?!

Perhaps he doesn't want to receive client messages instantaneously.

No, he's okay with that, we've talked about it. He even carries his cell phone out to the back 40 with him.

It's that I have to accept texting doesn't work so well with him, but I'm often mute or stuttering so phone calls are difficult.

He could be in session. I'll hold that thought...

Yes, if he's having a "busy" day, he may not have the chance to call you right back, whether or not he gets your call.

Oh gosh, I've had the same dino technology until recently. I used to get woken up by text messages at 3 am, which were actually sent sometime in the afternoon! Often I wouldn't get messages at all, because the inbox was full or something. Believe me, it is frustrating as hell, so you just end up not using your phone at all -- and in the meantime technology moves on, so when you get a phone that actually works you have no idea how to use it... Some people are just not into mobile phones, and I totally understand why.

Ok, so the new way of alerting him worked! I texted and then just called. When he heard silence on the other end, he saw it was my number then knew to text me back.

Today he said I'm about the only one he texts and called me his "texting buddy"! :-)

It is kinda funny, because half the time he still says "paging". He seriously just got rid of the beeper a couple years ago!

That must be really hard. I'm glad he called back.
