Did anyone else already have a feeling this might be the case?

I just posted this on the BPD board. I read the article this afternoon.
It's so great that she has stepped forward and revealed this history. It truly shows that people with mental illness CAN be successful and well respected.

I loved the article, and especially the photos. Her arms, they look like my arms.
I read the article this morning after someone here sent it to me ( ) and then this afternoon I got an email from my T with a link to the article. I guess it made her think of me, not quite sure why.
Anyway, this is amazing and will go a long ways towards reducing stigma toward mental illness and BPD specifically.

I found this article so inspiring. Even though I don't know her (and likely I never will), it made me feel very connected with her in a way that's oddly comforting. It's weird.
Thanks for this!

rainbow, that's funny!

I'm going to ask my T if she sent that link to all her clients or just me, and if it was just me, WHY me, lol. I am glad she sent it, but I just don't understand why.

My T wrote to me "great article and very inspirational". She also wrote that Linehan developed DBT. I guess she thought I didn't know that!

I often wondered if this was the case because most people just don't really understand what its like to have BPD, no matter how much they study people with the condition. So for Lineham to have created a specific BPD treatment, which has been very successful for many people, I often thought that it's likely she has experienced what it is like to have the condition, in order to have worked out what helps people with it - if that makes sense lol.

It still is very inspirational!
Thanks for this!

I agree about feeling connected to her in a wierd way! It also makes sense that she would be/have been bpd because when I read her books or articles Ive always thought she really understood what it feels like to be bpd- something which Ive never got from reading books written by other clinicians. By revealing this she only goes up in my estimations and Im sure this will help many with the diagnosis!

a T in a hospital once told me that Linehan had BPD. I never heard or read that before or since, so I just sort of discounted it. I guess that guy was in the know after all, LOL
