i know this is so stupid to have to ask. but i dont know the answer. im working on a collage for my t. and i would like it to be finally done. i go next week. she wants me to write down and use pictures for my t goals. but i dont have any goals. and was just wondering what would be reasonable goals to have. im just looking for a general direction to go with this. an example or two. then maybe i would understand it. and have a direction. and could do this. right now i feel like giving up on it. its too hard for me. this whole collage has been too hard. but would really like to be able to finish it. i know in the end its up to me to get it done. but any input would be appreciated.

A couple ideas:
- better relationship with x
- being able to recognize when I use x negative behavior
- being able to say "NO"
- taking time for yourself
- having a tool box of coping skills for x
- having self-love

Hope that's enough to get your creative juices flowing!
Thanks for this!

Some of my goals for T are:

become more independent
being able to say no
respect myself
be honest with t
work on several of my relationships

can you say any more about the collage you're making? I'm curious because it sounds like a really neat idea.
Thanks for this!

Goals can be anything at all that you want in your life that's not there. It could even be, having a better sense for what it is that you want. Like maybe you don't know what your goals are, but you want to know what they are. That itself can be a goal.

Some of mine: I want to...
-manage my emotions better
-feel more open, less guarded
-have a better sense of who I am
-have better relationships
-believe in myself
-stop feeling so stuck in the past
Thanks for this!

dont know why i always need an example before i can start something. but thank you so much. it gave me the direction i needed. i wanted to be sure i did it right.

heres what i got so far.....

to make eye contact with you
to be able to say no when appropriate
to be able to interact with others better
to be honest
to have less fear
to not feel like i have to please people unconditionally for them to like me
to not be afraid to say what i really think
to not be afraid to ask for what i need
to be ok with needing
to not be terrified of men
to not be afraid of people
to not be afraid of friendship
to be ok with who i am
to not be afraid to make decisions
to not be afraid to talk
to not live so isolated
to not keep living in the past
to learn how to live in the present
to be able to accept care
to not be afraid of the truth
to be able to accept the truth

Suzzie, thank you for being open enough to share your therapy goals. I too was told to write goals for next session but was feeling stuck...

You do have value...and People do see you ...I felt the same way...maybe not for same reasons but what i realized is that it wasn't that other people didn't see me as valuable or didn't see me ...it was that I didn't think I had value or even existed in other people's eyes...

Once I was able to matter to myself...I realized that I did matter to other people and I even noticed that there were other people in my life that felt they didn't matter...and I could help them...

You can change your value in your own eyes!!! No matter how difficult therapy is, it will be worth it because you are worth it!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement you gave me to really explore my goals.
Thanks for this!
