I hate that month. It seems every T in the world goes on vacation then.
My t goes on the first and will be gone the whole month. I told him I'm worried about it. If I can't see him, he doesn't exist for me. I wish I was strong enough to face the feelings of being scared and alone and deal with them. T would be proud of me if I could....

Is there a way you can contact T during his time away, like email or phone call?

Vacations suck when they leave us without our greatest confidant. Take heart in knowing summer is more than halfway over. It sure does go by fast...

Hi Calista,

It's hard when our t's are gone for a long time. I had my session yesterday, and now i won't see t for 3 weeks because she's on vacation. I understand what you mean about how when you don't see her, it's hard to get that feeling/reassurance inside that she exists and the relationship with her exists and still continues. But it does! One thing that has helped me while my t is gone is to remember some of the statements she has said to me that made me feel cared about and/or understood. . .or things she has done that made me feel connected with her. Can you recall some of those times? If so, does it bring up any comforting feelings inside?

Can you contact your t at all while she's away?

Can you have a picture of T?
I call voice mail and hang up just so I can hear T's voice
I also keep a journal to T while they are gone then share it when they get back.

Perhaps your t would give you a "transitional object"----note, photo, little figurine, shell, etc...something tangible.

Hugs

Thanks for all the suggestions. I do have a picture and transitional objects from T. He is available by phone and e mail but I still feel loss. I just lost an inpatient T and social worker due to them transferring. I miss them terribly.
It's deffinately time for me to put on the big girl panties!

that's great you have some things to hold on to and can contact your T if you need to ... I know this is still hard for you though (understandably)
