I got an appt with a new LADY therapist on 12/16 and I'm really nervous. I've never seen a lady T before, they've all been males. She seemed nice on the phone but I'm still so nervous. Do my records transfer?? So she'll know of my multiple diagnoses?? I have trust issues with new people so it will take me a while to open up. I would appreciate any tips you have for me. Thanks.

{{{90}}} I wish I did, but I've only seen one T. Best of luck with the new lady T, keep us updated, K? =)

As long as you gave your previous therapists permission, your records will transfer. Not to stereotype unfairly, but I think that male and female therapists each bring something different to the sessions. Not better or worse, but different. I'm sure she's used to people taking a while to open up.

Ben,

I think different therapist bring different things to their sessions, but I would say that a client would react differently to a female or a male therapist even if they had similar mannerism.

90,

I hope it goes well.

I wouldn't worry too much about records, either...she's going to do things the way she sees fit, and she'll want to hear your story from you, rather than read it.

I've had great Ts of both sexes, I think you'll like it!
