so I found a mental health center in my county and called to day... Guess I need to do process and stuff first... I had to leave a message, they said a return call with in a day... I'm still shaking and feel all light headed and partially sick... Should I wait by the phone or not? I work nights so I need to go to bed @ some time.

Eh ah blah

Ya know, I figure therapists have got to be used to getting all kinds of weird messages. I once left my T a message and forgot my phone number halfway through. I finally just said "you've got my number, please just call me on it. I don't know what my phone number is right now."

Good for you for calling, and I hope you get a call back quickly.

first thank you all!
Second:
yeah I got a call and to be honest I thought it was a bit rude, this was the admission lady. She first told me since I have insurance I can't get help from them, then when I asked even if mental health and behavior therapy is excluded from services she said she could look into it or give me refers, and when I asked if I could both I was told no, then like out of no where she says and why do you think you need help, maybe I wouldn't think this rude if the order of questions... Then when I sad I think I maybe bipolar she snaps why is that? I think I gave her sass back I'm sorry, then she asked again what I wanted to do she sighed and was like ill have to make up a file on you then..then she kept saying that aetna was my insurance and they aren't, src is which is Fooey and if they call aetna I don't exist. Sigh well that's over.
. Whatever if admissions are like this how are the docs?????

Third: Thank you all again though! Yeah its taken a bit but if I can call these ppl maybe and have rudeness I can call some one else and maybe work something out??? Or maybe I can get referrals another day?

Fourth: I am goin to bed now

I may see about different insurance or something,
If this is like the medical clinic for poor ppl in the area, I am not sure what to do
Cuz I don't get along with them either

So sorry that you had such a terrible experience. Sometimes I really wonder about some of the people in health care. Those rude and insensitive types should never ever never be working in this field. It infuriates me.
Thanks for this!

Maybe it is an understaffed and underfunded clinic and this is why they are stressed and not nice?

If you have insurance then you will have more options. Have you tried your insurance company? They have therapists that they use and can refer you to.

Beauflow- just another idea- sometimes the front desk staff can get downrigt snippy and rude even at the best staffed and funded clinic. Shoulddn't be the case but it DOES happen it's not always an indication of how the T's are.
Trying your insurance company is a good idea- many preferred providers are even on the websites. Best of luck and keep us posted!

No, rude office staff means the pros allow them to be rude. Call your insurance provider and ask them for referrals. Go to a large medical university and ask them about their clinics. Even if you have to drive a few extra miles. Or tell them upfront that you are self pay, ask about fees and make it clear you will pay. The rude shenanigans are unacceptable. And sometimes when you make it clear that you are serious and will not tolerate rudeness, they will stop. And if you have to pay full price for a county run mental health clinic, you may as well go to a private clinic and pay the same amount and not have to deal with underpaid and overworked pros who have rude office staff.

thank you all again
Yeah I ended up staying up a little later talking and crying with my boyfriend I feel like I'm being penalized for trying, if I gave up or just lost it completely, then I would get help.... My boyfriend told me just due to one person or if facility is this way does not represent the whole psychiatric community. I do believe that. He also said he was proud of me for calling and taking steps to get help.

I will call my insurance but they do have exclusion to mental and behavior health unless mandated by law. In the packet they gave me that's what it says.... They do have in network doctors but I don't think they will pay anything due to the exclusion.
maybe I can sit down with one of the in network place and see if they have a program for ppl like me....
Sadly they don't give much options, my insurance has like 15 doctors listed in my ''area'' which I expanded the miles.

I thought maybe going over to this place and just sitting down or talking to reception to see how the other ppl are there but I think that be odd at the same time..but it would help to see if just admissions is this way or more than.

I guess could go over to the next towns university and ask about stuff, I never really thought about that.

No worries I like this site I will keep posting and reading other's posts and input it has helped me a lot just with in a month, just me calling to get help is a huge step. Me looking at me this month and posting some things makes me realize that I may need some help....

Thank you all again
