Hi,

My therapist and psychiatrist are recommending intense DBT therapy. I'm familiar with CBT but not so much DBT. Just wondering if others have had success with it.

Thanks,
Alissa

I didnt do intensive DBT, but i did do an intro to DBT group (8 weeks) three times over at the mental health clinic i go to. I found it immensively helpful. First time, just got the overview, second time felt i could start understanding and practicing the skills and the third time really make them a part of my life. It really helped me stop reacting to things and being so emotional all the time. It is kinda hard to explain how it changed things, but it did. Got me off that emotional roller coaster. i highly recommend it.

Thank you so much for your comments. I really am looking forward to it now. (although the cbt on steroids is kinds scary). I self harm and have "suicidal coping thoughts" as my psychiatrist puts it and have gone through so many therapists and meds that I'm almost desperate at this point.

Thanks again!
