It feels good knowing that at least once a week I have my therapist to talk to. Walking into her office feels like entering an oasis. How does she create such a safe place? No matter how I'm feeling, I know that she is there to support me. And the way she reflects back to me how I'm feeling is the most wonderful experience. She gets it! I know she wants the best for me. And I know I can tell her anything and everything. She knows the most despicable part of me and chooses not to reject me. She makes it known that it's o.k. to be me even when I don't believe it myself.
She always is able to squeeze me into an extra session when I request one. She'll start her day earlier than she prefers in order to make time for me. She ever so gently helps me explore my feelings and helps me learn to cope with the difficult ones. She's not afraid to compassionately laugh at my foibles and makes me laugh too. She accepts everything I throw at her - my anger, my fears, my shame, my dysfunction - and she then helps me try to transform them. All the while being loving and compassionate. I've never felt judged by her. Never. She never tells me what to do, even when I beg her. She wants me to find the answers. She will guide by asking questions- so unobtrusive, so non-threatening, so gentle, that they hardly feel like questions. They're more like an invitation to explore. No force, no imposition - just a caring that is felt deep inside. I am learning so much from her - much more than can be explained in words. I don't think it's possible to capture in language (verbal or written) what I've gained from her. It is illusive and magical. It is felt. So, it feels good... |

There is a thread that asks us to describe our T's in one word. I thought about it but I can't limit the description unless I do it like Hankster and blend the words together. I guess if I had to I would say 'loving' because that might encompass the attributes of compassion, sensitivity, empathy, giving, attuned and on and on.
