Hi PC Friends,
Okay, today is the day I spend several hours at the new pdoc's office, several hours because they go through extensive physical and mental evaluations.
I already know some of the staff through son's visits, bu I hope my first impression is good of the doctor, because I very quickly judge a person, and if I am not feeling comfortable, it could be a wasted day. Btw, I love my son's doc, but she is a child pdoc.
My H is going with me, recommended by this place, although I would prefer to do this on my own. He will also have to give input.
I have been in crying mode for the past week, and hopefully I will be able to maintain some control over my emotions. I wish this appt. had taken place a couple of weeks ago when the hypo-mania had me flying high, okay maybe too high because of the uncontrollable drinking and lack of sleep, but I was a lot more in control of my presentation then.

Anyway, I've never asked for pocket riders before, but if anyone has the day free, I sure could use the support!

I'm in as well. And.... I don't talk either- outloud that is! Sometimes I'll whisper something, but in general, I'm pretty still!

Thanks Everybody!

We did it! Pocket riders sorry for the long day, and you can thank me now for giving you a break during the urine sample, I still haven't figured out how that is connected to my brain!

Anyway, here's how my 3 hours at the pdoc clinic went. First, a basic exam-bp, weight, etc. Then about 45 minutes of online testing. Then this PA comes in and goes over my entire medical, psych history. Next, another hour long online testing, and these were really hard-my IQ is probably listed at about 50 now! Then the urine sample and then an EKG. I have already been there over 2 hours, and still have not seen a dr. I guess she was in her throne room taking in all of the notes about me as they came in.

Finally, this female version of Doogie Howser comes in, and my thoughts are that there is no way this child has already made it through medical school, and then Doogie reprimanded me for my self-medication choices! I felt like I was being scolded by one of my students. Anyway, all of this, and all she did was add Abilify for now and back in two weeks. She also only gave me a prescription for enough Klonopin until my next appointment, like my family doctor. Okay, I know I can easily develop an addiction given my family history and occasional poor choices, but I have not yet experienced the appeal of this drug, it just softens my thoughts at night.

So, everyone, we will see if the depression starts to subside. Hopefully, at least the tears will stop.

Thanks!

I told my h when I got home that it was the first time I felt like a senior citizen being patronized by a doctor.
This has always been my experience with every pdoc I have come in contact with, whether for me oo one of my sons. These doctors seem to be the least compassionate doctors of all, and the most expensive!

That's too bad. I haven't had much interaction with pdocs but I believe it from what I read. I hope you can use her for meds and can do the emotional stuff with your t.
