I was actually a bit upset that someone "told" about that thread. Having a therapist read our fun little discussion about slip on versus tie shoes is . . . I dunno. Upsetting isn't the right word. Disconcerting maybe.

I'd be p**sed if there was any identifying info in the thread, but there isn't, so it doesn't bother me so much. I can see where it could bother/trigger some people though, so I certainly understand where you'd find it disconcerting, MKAC.

That writer is how I found this site! And what a godsend, too.

Now I can talk to you guys instead of agonizing about calling/emailing my T.

Yeah, that clever participant is DEFINITELY familiar w/the eye contact dilemma. I'd tell T about the mention in the article, but I talk about his butt in that thread. LOL

I liked what he said about NOT wanting eye contact because it was so negatively loaded in the past - the eyes we looked at reflected shame, anger, etc. that was certainly the case for me, and I was always "marked down" at work, assumed to be lying or at least uncommunicative.

How about "comes off as aloof and non-responsive"? I got that in my last performance evaluation. <---See, I'm not looking at you!

You are so right!

Which makes me think that I totally missed the boat - I SHOULD have started a thread titled "Your T's butt or eyes: Which are you more likely to look at?"
Thanks for this!

Definitely his eyes. Because, you know, he's sitting on the other thing.
