I'm writing this for myself as much as I am for all of you:

my quote I created I think is so good for therapy but, not only therapy- LIFE.

First of all, we have to give ourselves permission to not get everything right... We don't go to therapy because everything is already right with us, we go so they can see all of those cracks and bumps along the way... If we don't let them see our pain then how can they fix what's wrong? If we beat ourselves up every time we do something wrong in therapy, it won't be as productive...

we are trying to fix what's wrong..
so, on behalf of all the people who need pocket riders
all the people who are pissed that they sent that last email
that have had a rupture with a therapist recently
all the people who are just plain scared to be vunerable
all the people who replay every minute of every second of therapy
and critique their behavior from the beginning of the session until the end
all the people who had previous therapists and still feel as if they messed up a previous therapeutic relationship

I say F' it-- lol my quote and friendly reminder is ...

It is only within weakness that we learn to navigate through our strengths...

I don't follow my own advice too many times to count but, I know I have gotten better... if even by a little bit... We should all have moments where we say to ourselves: [Insert Your Name Here; Today, I'm not completley okay. Thank God for tommorow's though and NEXT sessions because life tends to offer re-do moments. So, let me try to be okay with myself today, let me lend myself some mercy, gentleness, and patience to be who I am, flaws and all.]

Such a good thing to keep in mind, especially when it feels so easy to mess this up! Thanks for sharing

Love it! I feel like I have a pretty perfect therapy situation with an exceptional therapist, so I'm really thankful not to have the struggles you've listed, but I just wanted to let you know that this is an excellent post.

Nobody knows why therapy works.
Nobody knows the best way to do it.
The only thing that seems to matter is persistence.

I guess you could say the same things about life.
