I can't explain it because I don't want to talk about my RL and give identifying details, but I feel like a failure and like I'm worthless. I emailed my T a totally depressing paragraph about how bad I feel.

I'm disappointed in myself and in others. I want to curl up in a ball and stay there. I don't want to pack and leave town. It's all too much for me. I'm selfish, too. I feel sick but I don't think I really am. I burned my tongue on hot soup and it hurts. I want my T. I want to be a baby.

rainbow, I'm sorry you're feeling disappointed and unhappy, and that you burned your tongue. Life just kicks us in the tush sometimes, doesn't it?
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the hugs and responses-- Chopin, Vanessa, WePow, Karebear, Elli-Beth. ECHOES, Suzzie, and stopdog.

I feel a little better today. Sending the email to my T helped, just to know that she knows how I was feeling. I filled out a log for EMDR about failure. I wrote my major failures on the back, but then I wrote successes in another list. That made me realize my life hasn't been a TOTAL failure; it's just that I failed at some things that were important to me. It doesn't make me a bad person. I have strengths and weaknesses like everyone else. Now I need to remember what I just wrote and not be so self-critical. That's the hard part.

Glad you feel a bit better. Disappointment and failure usually aren't permanent states; they just show us where we may need to rethink and approach a problem or situation a different way (especially disappointment in ourselves). I remember when I "studied" disappointment with my T (disappointed in my DH), how freeing it was discovering where it came from and how I did not have to stumble over it again because of the new understanding.
