First session today with my life coach.

I've got a pit in my stomach and I don't want to go...

but another part of me is kind of jazzed. I have a few ideas of how I want this to work...and if this is not the right person, I will go shopping again.

I'm a bit exhausted from my search. I've met with a few duds (and posted about the strange neuroimaging that I almost slipped into!). The saga continues.....

I'd ask for pocket riders but I've done that so many times before (sigh), so I'm asking that you coach me through my coaching session.

Wish me luck!

well from what you wrote in your other post about how you like your sessions to go, i'd say this is probably more the kind of thing you're looking for? hopefully this person will be a good fit

stop apologizing and look for a jacket or something with big pockets. You're going to have a lot of company (me too )

You should have said, "I'm sorry I keep apologizing." I actually had someone say that to me a couple of weeks ago!

I'm in. I hope everything goes well for you!!

Okay, were you coached to keep us on tenterhooks (who knew, I thought it was "tender" hooks)? How'd it go?

sorry I didn't respond sooner!

I liked it...Gosh...I liked it!

What I liked:
*coach responded to my questions about what my "strategies" sounded like. This was a far cry from the "blank slate" that I have found so yicky.

*relaxed atmosphere and lots of back-and-forth

*Overt focus on my goals. I didn't feel like my goals were seen as a way to "avoid" lots of talk about my past and my Daddy issues, which I feel I have totally worn out!

* We are dealing with what I want in my life going forward. I had a list and we started down the list, and when I was leaving, T said, "good luck with your meeting (one of my first items). My old Ts never would have even acknowledged that I was having the meeting, much less actually wished me well. I was so thrilled. I was incredibly jazzed by this, which i think is a measure of how toxic I find a blank slate. Wahoo!!!!

Amazing.

Thanks for all the support in the last while... I really appreciate you riders this time.

And I'm looking forward to going back.
Thanks for this!

That sounds awesome, mcl!!

It made me sad to read your old T would never even have wished you well at a meeting. Good riddance to that. So glad you will now be working with a person who treats you like a human being with worth.

Sounds fab! And a good omen that the T was able to keep in mind your goals and plans for the week as you were leaving. I'd really like to hear more about this as you have more sessions. I saw a lifecoach twice for key decisions (e.g. career options) in the past but would really like to learn about seeing one weekly to work towards your preferred future. Can you point to any good reading about life coaching aproaches that you've come across?

So pleased for you- it was about time you caught a break like this
