All,
One particular poster's post really got to me today. In a good way, that is. Perhaps you will understand.... I think it's important to rejoice, from time to time, in having gotten away. Gotten away from a bad therapist. Gotten away from a bad job, a bad relationship, a bad apartment, a bad subway stop in the middle of the night where things were unsafe and you knew, and got away. For me, this runs pretty deep. I got away from a bad situation that I happened to be born into.... a violent household, and from time to time in my life I have had to get away again. This takes incredible fortitude. I find, more often than not, that new therapist is better, the new job is better.... Maybe others can relate. I'm not trying to fill in here for others, but I am rejoicing this morning....For me, part of the art of living consists in knowing when to stay, knowing when to go, and in rejoicing in my own resilience, and resourcefulness, and wisdom to know the difference (yeah, I had to "recover" in order to know this...sigh). Sometimes "sticking" makes sense and relationships (including therapy ones) can be re-cast and improved. But not always. sometimes I need to get away from some Jerkasaurus Rex...and Rejoice! And thanks for the idea for the thread, Deputy Dog ![]() |

I am glad to hear it went well and seems to be very in line with what you are looking for. Now that song about "Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play, today" is going through my head.

Know when to hold em,
Know when to fold em, Know when to walk away, Know when to run.

Thank you very much for posting this. Reminded me that I need to do some reframing of my relationship with my ex. Am very focused on all the great things I've lost, but could helpfully think in terms of the aspects I'm glad to have got away from. Must make a list.
Thank you especially for sharing your experience that what comes next is often better. |

I think I made the right decision in leaving the Bad Group, but it's not something I rejoice over.
