Has anyone here done analysis? If so-how was it?

There was a blogger on Psychology Today who did the lie on the couch a few days a week analysis - it was called Mr. Analysand.

I do in one of my therapies. It is several times per week, so is very intense (and very expensive). It is very slow work, sometimes in a frustrating way. Tons of transference. Very deep work. Extremely interesting (and sometimes scary) to delve into the unconscious. Wouldn't have it any other way even with the emotional pain that comes with it. Don't know if this helped, but you can PM with more questions if you wish.
Thanks for this!

I am doing depth analysis too. Could not have said it any better than Honeybun did already. I feel the same way about it! Absolutely fascinating stuff.

My T told me the other day that when she was looking for a therapist, she had an 'assessment' session with a psychoanalytic guy who did. not. say. a. single. word. Even at the end. How he was 'assessing' her or how she was supposed to know or agree the outcome, I have no idea. She didn't go back!

I am not sure if I am in typical analysis, but I see my T 3x a week and do a short check in once a week. I am doing some pretty deep work and have strong positive transference with my T. I have made a lot of progress.

My therapist is psychodynamic/psychoanalytic. She has several certificates in psychoanalysis and that is how I found her. I wanted an analytically oriented therapist, so I contacted the psychoanalytic institute near me for a referral. We meet twice a week, we sit facing one another, and she is not a silent blank slate. I love the depth work, even though it is hard for me, but any kind of therapy would be hard for me because I am very guarded.
