Hi, everyone! I am kind of new here, though I have been lurking around for quite a while. Never had enough courage to write something. But today I feel good and wanted to share something. (Sorry for my English, it is not my native language)
It all started with my T buying the Couch last autumn. I totally freaked out, because I felt like she wanted me to lie down. I couldn’t even talk about it. But now I somehow got the courage. I went in for my session yesterday determined to say her that today I am lying down, but as I saw the couch I totally freaked out and sat in my usual chair. I was so anxious, could hardly speak to her, but somehow got out the thing that was bothering me – the couch. And than, 20 min in the session, I stood up and went to the couch and lay down. It was weird, her voice coming from the wrong direction, me being in different place, the clock right in front of me… (she sits behind me and I can not see her). But I feel so happy that I did it, I was so afraid that by lying down I will somehow lose connection, but instead of that now I feel even closer to her. And now I can say that I am officially in psychoanalysis!!! Though I am a bit concerned how it will be all the next sessions… I hope that I will feel the same. Thank you for reading. This forum has helped me a lot, especially in feeling that I am not alone in my struggles in therapy. Thank you!!!

thanks for posting. I have never tried psychoanalysis myself...really scared of it. So kudos to you for getting past your fears and giving it a whirl!

It took me months to get myself move from the chair to the couch but its been 9 months now and I've never gone back to the chair (well, except once when I was upset and moved way across the room to a chair by a table...). Just as you do, I face the clock now and t is out of my line of vision. I hope you continue to like the couch. Good job with the move!
