I'm totally bummed out.

My T is currently a student, practicing under a supervisor (and thus, her license). Well, his last day of class is Monday May 7. After that class, he will no longer be a student.

Which means he can no longer see me under his supervisor's license. He will remain unable to see me, or any other patient until he receives his license paperwork back and everything. He also has to figure out where he's going to work, basically, since he got a masters in Psychology (and not counseling or social work) he cannot work independently; he must have a supervisor in order see patients.

He's thinking it's going to be mid-to-late July. I'm thinking it's probably going to take longer than that, because things never work out the way you want/intend.

I meet with him on Mondays and this means I only have two more sessions left. He wanted me to do some DBT in the mean time, but he wasn't trying to force the issue too much, knowing that he couldn't really "make" me if he wouldn't be seeing me. I did agree to work with someone else in the interim. So now I'm waiting for a call sometime this week to set up a time for him to meet with me AND temporary-T.

I'm not completely torn up or anything - maybe I will be once he's actually gone - but I'm pretty bummed out. I've been seeing him since just before Christmas, and I like him. He knows me. This new person, no matter how great he/she is... they're new. I don't like change

Ugh, that's frustrating. I think there can be a lot of benefits to seeing a student therapist, but it's so hard to run up against the practical limitations of the situation.

I hope your interim person is good.

I think continuity in a therapist is very important.
But we can't always have what we want, alas.

(My T says it is bad for me to get what I want and it happens too often for my own good!)

Monday is coming soon and after that I will only have one more session with him until later this summer. I know it's not forever (or even that long) but I'm bumming out. I have a bad feeling about this...

AND he said he was going to call me at some point to set up a session with both him and the new T. And it's Friday and he hasn't

That's a shame.
