Just curious how many people have a "set" day and time for seeing their t and how many people schedule appointments one at a time?

I have a standing day/time. I need the consistency, as I would completely fall apart if we scheduled week to week. Not only that, but when T is going to be away, I am given the heads up as far in advance as possible, so there is time to plan how I will maintain during Ts time away.

I schedule as I go. I prefer it that way because my schedule with three kids and a husband changes all the time. I also like being able to get in more often if needed without it being a major production to feel like I have to ask permission, etc. The flexibility to schedule as often or as little as needed has really worked well. I've actually never had a T who scheduled set appointments. My real life schedule is just not that predictable.

I have set days and times (2x/week), but we confirm them at every session and sometimes change them if one of us needs to. I recently had a change in my schedule and was no longer available at one of my set times, so we had to juggle for a couple of weeks to get another time that worked for both of us. I suspect he added me to the end of his day to accommodate me.

Kinda half and half. We schedule about 2-3 weeks ahead. For example, since we waited until my appointment Friday to schedule, she was completely booked next week (considering she's taking the equivalent of 2.5 days off for doctor's appointments). She said she didn't want to do that to me again, so we scheduled for the three weeks after that.

Well up until a I think two months ago I was a schedule as we go.. then my T suggested that we start booking appointments a month out. So, right now I am usually a Thursday appointments, but times vary.

My T just had me schedule for the next 10 weeks so that I could keep my same day/time, which is Thursday at 4, but sometimes it has to be Tuesday at 4, or Tuesday at 3, or Thursday at 3. One of those.

We schedule as we go, one week at a time, but usually for the same day and time slot. It has varied at times - sometimes at my request, sometimes at hers, but she's always fit me in somewhere for our weekly session, and even at short notice for the odd extra.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I am thinking of asking t to schedule two appointments out or maybe set a day/time for summer. Guess I'll play it by ear and see what is available when I see her on Thursday.

I am scheduled two appointments out. Every time I go in, I schedule one for two weeks after the one that's already on the schedule.

Yeah, I was going to say that if you are wanting a set day and time but can't get one right now, have your sessions scheduled out a few weeks in advance which really does help to at least keep your appointments fairly consistent within a day or two anyway. My T's secretary always schedules me a few weeks in advance as there is only one time I can actually get it. I don't really care about the day, but with work, the time is a definite factor. She is really helpful that way.

I have a set day and time each week, and really prefer it that way. I don't have to worry about scheduling.
I only have to deal with scheduling if I have a conflict with work, or I'm on vacation or something.

Set day and time every week unless something weird is happening.
I also schedule my clients same day/time every week. If I didn't, my availability would be crazy with meetings and such. |

I have a set day and time, the consistency of it and knowing it's 'my' time is a good thing.

Kind of both. I usually see my T at the same time every Monday, but each week we confirm the time for the following week. She usually tries to give me a heads up if something needs to change or she'll call a couple days ahead of time to see if another time will work, etc. When I also used to see her at her other office on Thursdays, though, it was all random times depending on what she had available for that week.

I book on a week to week basis but it's usually for the same time and date. For some reason the lack of commitment is comforting to me. If I dont want to come I don't have to give an explanation for canceling my next appoitment.

I schedule as I go. Sometimes two appointments in advance but usually just one. I see T once every 2-4 weeks. My schedule is too unpredictable to allow a regular day and time. (I think T's is too.)
